Although the Tereshchenko family became wealthy through sugar manufacturing, Fedor devoted much of his inheritance to aviation rather than the family business.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>The Tereshchenko Aircraft Business<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Rather than purchasing aircraft from France, Fedor wanted to establish a domestic aircraft industry.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>1909\u20131910<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Purchased a Bl\u00e9riot XI and learned to fly.<\/li>\n<li>Built his own first monoplane based on, but improving upon, the Bl\u00e9riot concept.<\/li>\n<li>Displayed his aircraft at the All-Russian Aeronautical Congress in Moscow.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>Chervone Aviation Workshops<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>At the Tereshchenko family estate at Chervone Estate, Fedor established:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an aerodrome<\/li>\n<li>engineering workshops<\/li>\n<li>aircraft assembly facilities<\/li>\n<li>engine repair shops<\/li>\n<li>pilot training facilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many historians regard this as <strong>the first true aircraft manufacturing enterprise in Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px\"><strong>Aircraft Produced<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Tereshchenko works produced a succession of increasingly sophisticated aircraft:<\/p>\n<table cellpadding=\"0\">\n<thead>\n<tr>\n<th>\n<p><strong>Aircraft<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/th>\n<th>\n<p><strong>Approx.
